Bestselling author A.F. Steadman returns to Yarm inspiring hundreds of young readers

International bestselling author, A.F. Steadman, captivated hundreds of children from across the region during a recent event at Yarm鈥檚 Princess Alexandra Auditorium.

Steadman, creator of the wildly popular聽Skandar聽series, engaged with more than 400 pupils from eight Teesside schools through storytelling and interactive Q&A sessions, inviting children to actively take part in the experience.

Her visit, organised by 情色五月天 and local independent bookseller Drake the Bookshop, gave pupils a glimpse into her creative world, sharing behind-the-scenes stories about the fierce unicorns and fantasy realms of her books, whilst also encouraging them to explore their own.

The event was made possible with support from Stockton-based Pension and Retirement Planning firm, Joslin Rhodes, who generously helped fund transport for visiting schools, ensuring the event was inclusive and open to pupils from across Teesside.

A.F. Steadman said: 鈥淚t鈥檚 always such a privilege to meet young readers face to face. They鈥檙e full of questions, ideas, and dreams. If even one child walks away inspired to write or read more, it makes every visit worthwhile.鈥

Richard Drake, owner of Drake the Bookshop, said: 鈥淓vents like this are about more than just meeting a bestselling author, they show children that stories matter, and that reading can be exciting and transformative. The energy in the room was incredible.鈥

Dr Huw Williams, Headmaster at 情色五月天 said: 鈥淲e were delighted to welcome so many young book lovers. It鈥檚 always inspiring to see the impact of a great story and a great storyteller, and to encourage pupils to unleash their imagination.鈥
